Cookie Policy
This policy explains how AskVerdict, a product of GLINR Studios (a division of GLINCKER LLC), uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, maintain sessions, and understand how you interact with the site. AskVerdict uses cookies and similar technologies — including local storage and session storage — to provide a functional, personalized, and secure experience.
Cookies may be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (retained until they expire or you delete them). They may be set by us ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services we integrate with ("third-party cookies").
2. Legal Basis
We use cookies based on the following legal grounds:
- Strictly necessary cookies: These do not require consent as they are essential for the Service to function (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive)
- Analytics and preference cookies: Set based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Where we rely on legitimate interest, we ensure a balance between our interests and your privacy rights
3. Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the platform to function. They enable core features like authentication, session management, and security protections. You cannot opt out of essential cookies as the Service would not work without them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| __av_sid | Maintains your authenticated session | Session / 30 days |
| csrf-token | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
| __Secure-next-auth* | Authentication state management | Session / 30 days |
| theme | Remembers your dark/light mode preference | 1 year |
4. Analytics Cookies
We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with AskVerdict. This data helps us improve the platform, identify popular features, and fix issues. Analytics data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
Information collected through analytics includes:
- Page views and navigation patterns
- Feature usage frequency and click events
- Performance metrics (page load times, error rates)
- Device type, browser, operating system, and screen resolution
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level, not precise)
- Referral source (how you found AskVerdict)
We do not use analytics data to build individual user profiles for advertising purposes.
5. Preference Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to personalize your experience:
- Theme preference (dark mode / light mode)
- UI layout preferences and sidebar state
- Debate configuration defaults (preferred AI models, agent count)
- Notification and display settings
Preference data is stored locally on your device using browser local storage and does not leave your device unless explicitly synced to your account settings.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on AskVerdict may be set by third-party services we integrate with:
- Stripe: Payment processing cookies for secure checkout and fraud prevention
- Analytics providers: Aggregated usage tracking (see Section 4)
- OAuth providers: GitHub and Google may set cookies during the authentication flow
These third parties have their own cookie and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
We do not allow third-party advertising cookies on AskVerdict. We do not sell your data to advertisers, participate in ad exchanges, or use tracking cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising or retargeting.
7. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. There is currently no uniform industry standard for interpreting DNT signals. Our platform does not currently respond to DNT browser signals, but we limit tracking to the analytics and essential purposes described in this policy.
We will update this policy if a universal DNT standard is established and adopted.
8. Managing Cookies
You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete existing cookies
- Block all or certain types of cookies
- Set preferences for specific websites
- Receive notifications when a cookie is being set
- Automatically clear cookies when you close your browser
Important: Blocking essential cookies may prevent AskVerdict from functioning correctly. You may not be able to log in, maintain a session, or use core features if essential cookies are blocked.
For instructions on managing cookies in your specific browser, please refer to:
9. Consent Management
When you first visit AskVerdict, we may present a cookie consent banner that allows you to:
- Accept all cookies
- Accept only essential cookies
- Customize your preferences for each category
You can change your cookie preferences at any time through your account settings or by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site. Withdrawing consent for analytics cookies will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
10. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices change, as we add new technologies, or as required by law. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
For material changes to our cookie practices, we will provide additional notice via our cookie consent mechanism or in-app notification.
